AMERICAN SOCIETY OF HOME INSPECTORS© 2022
Dan is very knowledgeable and thorough in his inspections. He took the time to explain the house throughout the entire process and his report was very comprehensive and delivered timely. A standard inspection for a home around 40 years old, with 9 rooms and less than 3000 square feet takes about 3–4 hours. He uncovered issues that the original owner was not aware of, requiring extensive repair.

Frequently Asked Questions about Dan Destefano
I have some questions about the home inspection process. Prior to founding Advent Home Inspections in 1980, Dan DeStefano specialized in home and commercial building renovation and restoration. Commercial property condition assessments are also available. Pointed out some items that allowed us to negotiate a discount off the price. We will refer to Dan's report for future items to work on.

I had some settlement issue and my windows looked like they were pulling away from the brick. I was concerned that it was structural issue and had Dan give me a full inspection. Very professional and well rounded about construction and took time to explain all possible future issues and current possible fixes for my windows. Got report within 24 hours and highly recommend his services. Dan DeStefano of Advent Home Inspections was very thorough and professional. He showed a little bit before time, let us tag along during inspection and explained all the details and findings.
We were able to use the inspection in our conversation with the sellers to negotiate a few needed improvements, and the evidence presented really helped us make our case. His service does cost more than some other local inspectors, but he was available when we needed him. In many states, regulation and licensing of home inspectors exists.
He also offered and did come back to take a look at the roof after the snow melted, and has offered to answer questions in the future. I definitely thought he did a great job, and would certainly recommend him. My only caveats are that I thought it was a little pricey, and I am not that handy - so I may not be the best able to evaluate home inspectors. Dan is very detail oriented and was able to explain his findings clearly to us.
The ASHI Standard of Practice is the foundation that all ASHI members conduct their home inspections upon. Inspections in other states are also possible. Member of American Society of Home Inspectors (ASHI #1388) and Charter Member of Historic Building Inspectors Association . MA License #288, CT License #270 and NH License #144. He was available right away for our inspection. He was thorough and didn't miss anything!
He presented us within 48 hours with a very detailed inspection report complete with pictures he took during the inspection. He is a little bit on the expensive side but we felt assured after walking with him on the thorough inspection. He is a member of American Society of Home Inspectors and was recommended to us by a friends who were also very happy.
We found him very knowledgeable about not only pointing out problems, categorizing which things are critical and which are minor, and also suggesting possible solutions. This is the second time we've had Dan inspect a home for us. The first time, he found significant issues and saved us from buying a home that would have been a money pit. The second time, Dan found that the house had very few issues, which gave us the confidence to proceed with our purchase.
